With the refreshing 6% milk fat content, the delicious taste is very popular.

    Graubünden is a sandwich and cake store close to Niseko HIRAFU Ski Area. Inside the café, which has a country ambience, you can enjoy an array of more than 30 kinds of sandwiches and large pieces of cake with plenty of fruit and cream. The Graubünden Sandwich (900 yen) consisting of scrambled egg, bacon and cheese in French bread has continuously been a much-loved menu item since the cafe opened. Take out is also available.

    LOG BEAR is a coffee shop and bar located close to the shopping street on the banks of Lake Shikotsu. The interior of the log house shop which is filled with the warmth of wood overflows with sunshine and has the atmosphere of actually being in the forest. During the day, it serves in-house roasted coffee and tea while in the evening you can enjoy authentic Scotch whisky. Also, it has two bed rooms so you can stay there.

An in-eat area is also available where you can enjoy their food menu including cheese fondue. The store itself looks like a homely log cabin with cute hand-written signboards and knickknacks everywhere.

This popular shop with its surrounding warmth from the red brick and trees is a place where you can taste real Italian food such as pasta dishes and pizza using seasonal produce. A variety of goods, perfect as souvenirs or gifts, such as Tokachi wine, pasta snacks and well known confections can be bought from the adjoining shop.

    ISHIYA CAFE is run by the Ishiya company who are famous for producing the Hokkaido sweet, shiroi koibito. The cafe is located on the basement second floor of Sapporo Odori Nishi4 Building in Chuo Ward, Sapporo City, Hokkaido. The menu, including sandwiches and pasta dishes, is popular with nearby office workers in the morning and at lunch times. There’s also a large selection on the coffee shop menu including parfait using shiroi koibito ice cream, and a 3.5 centimeter thick, double layered pancake. The antique-style of the cafe with white decor has a cool, relaxed feel which also attracts many tourists.

    Café Gake no ue, literally meaning cafe on the cliff, is as the name suggests perched on top of a 40 meter high cliff overlooking the Shirai River and located a short distance from the Jozankei hot-spring resort in Minami Ward, Sapporo City, Hokkaido. Built so that the cafe protrudes from the cliff, the beauty of the valley with the Shirai River flowing directly below can be enjoyed from the seats at the back of the cafe. About 10 seats can be squeezed on to the cozy terrace which is only open during the summer months. Take some time out and enjoy the cafe menu, including aromatic siphon (vacuum pot) coffee, and gake no ue cake made with sour cream butter, all while taking in the beautiful natural green surroundings.

    In Kamigoryo, Furano City, Hokkaido, sits a small cafe which has been refurbished from an old barn by the husband and wife owners. The red roof of the cafe standing in a field in Furano is easy to spot. The husband and wife team prepare dishes from food which they fell in love with during their travels around the world, and offer guests the chance to eat food like healthy rice using homemade vegetables, home roasted coffee, and sweets, etc. There’s also an old house, built 80 years ago, which has been lovingly renovated into a guest house where you can stay overnight (meals not included).

    A delicious bread and coffee shop located three minutes walk from Bibaushi Station. Gosh sells natural yeast bread that goes well with ham and cheese and stewed dishes, and various coffees which have been imported from all over the world. Raw coffee beans are hand-picked and home-roasted in a drum which is heated from below to produce superb tasting coffee. Relax, sit back and enjoy the taste of paper filter coffee, or flannel drip coffee, while eating homemade cake in the peaceful surroundings of the coffee shop. Children under 15 years old are not permitted in the coffee shop.

    PRESS CAFE in Otaru City, Hokkaido lies in the corner of the former Shibusawa warehouse which was built in 1895. In addition to dishes such as their original Indian style curry and various kinds of spaghetti, you can enjoy paper drip coffee and homemade cake.

In addition to the richly flavored parfait which uses plenty of refreshing soft ice cream and the light, fluffy baked pancakes, there are a wide variety of dishes on the menu which normally use milk products such as carbonara and gratin, etc. The Yotsuba white parfait made with plenty of soft ice cream and fresh cream is especially popular. They also have a recommended seasonal menu and the place is always crowded with both local customers and tourists.

Their specialty is the huge Dream Jumbo Parfait which uses a mass of ingredients such as fruit, cake, baumkuchen and ice cream. Due to its massive size it’s popular among friends, families and students on school trips. The Royal Special, made with vanilla ice cream, is also a popular dessert, created when Emperor Showa visited Hokkaido. Popular dishes on the menu are the sumptuous cutlet sandwich and beef curry, made with Kobe beef. In-season, home-grown vegetables are handpicked just one hour before the cafe opens and used for cooking. Take-out options are also possible and popular as an airport lunch too.

The inside of the ice cream parlor, with its wine red carpets, has a romantic vintage feel to it reminiscent of the Taisho period, and a relaxed atmosphere where you could easily while away the hours.     A shop and cafe run by and located in Ono Farm, Memuro Town, Kasai County, Hokkaido. At the cafe you can enjoy beef steak and Hamburg steak produced from cattle grazing on grass and straw from the farm, and locally produced feed. There are more dishes on the menu, including stews and curries using plenty of vegetables, such as potatoes and wheat grown from the healthy soil on the farm. The large windows of the cafe give a bright, spacious feel to the place where you can relax and forget about life outside. Souvenirs are also on sale in the shop.

    This log cabin cafe restaurant situated in Biei Town, Kamikawa County, Hokkaido has a wonderful open and warm feel with a spacious, high vaulted ceiling. It boasts healthy dishes using plenty of seasonal vegetables lovingly grown by local farmers. Depending on the variety of vegetable, they are left to ripen under the snow for a number of months before being picked at just the right time for the best taste. Their pumpkin stew using one whole pumpkin, and curry with lots of ingredients are especially popular dishes.

    This coffee shop is found inside the station building of Mokoto Station, a wooden, unmanned station built in the Taisho period. The shop was once an old station office and inside you can find railway items of the time when it was a manned station, such as the station master’s hat, ticket box, and an old potbellied stove, etc. On the menu are dishes such as Ryuhyo (pack-ice) Ramen, made with plenty of seafood like Hokkai shrimp, and good old-fashioned curry, etc. Seeing as the shop was also used as a movie location it’s also a very popular spot for couples going out on a date!

    Tsurui Village in Akan County, Hokkaido, is known as the town of the Japanese crane, and is where this cafe restaurant is located with the flight route of the crane right above the shop. Here you can enjoy food using local produce for local consumption while watching the cranes in the winter or enjoying the flowering English garden in the summer. Boasting a healthy menu focusing on home-grown organic vegetables and herbs, their mild white curry, Tancho Curry, is a popular choice.
