Situated in Kushiro Fisherman’s Wharf MOO in Nishiki Town, Kushiro City, Hokkaido, is the robatayaki, Japanese-style barbecue, open from mid May to around October. Rows of shops selling fresh local seafood line the wharf from where you can see the Nusamai Bridge, one of the three main bridges in Hokkaido. You can choose your favorite food and drink, which is bought using a ticket system, from any of the shops and cook it on one of the available barbecues. As well as seafood, meat and Hokkaido vegetables are also popular.

Traditional Japanese confectionary store in Toyako Town, Abuta County, Hokkaido that opened in 1923. Wakasaimo is a famous confectionary in the Lake Toya area for their specialty menu. Their white soybean paste has a unique mild sweetness similar to roasted sweet potato but without any potato. The first floor sells Japanese and Western style confections along with deep fried sweet potato, and the second floor is a Japanese restaurant.

This is the joint with the delicious 350yen soft serve ice cream with a delicious sweet potato biscuit. Must not miss this... It is a confectionery store as well.

This complex facility in Asahikawa City, Hokkaido is operated by Tsuboya, famous for the well-known sweets of the North, Kibana. Within the brightly sun-lit facilities you can watch where they make the Kibana confections and have a go at making the sweets in the kitchen. There’s also a specialty craft shop and flower shop making it a great place to bring along the children. The cafe facing the courtyard is a lovely place to sit back and relax on the sofas. There is also a shop which sells the full range of Tsuboya sweets.

き花というお菓子が有名なお店で、旭川駅から徒歩２０分ぐらいのところにあります。焼きたてアップルパイは人気だそうで品切れでした。午前でも品切れるようです。カフェもお店も全体的に結構こじんまりしていた。スイカなどの交通系の決済もできます。パンとか安くて、あとケーキは生ケーキ購入できます。

A branch shop of the famous Hokkaido confectioner, Rokkatei, located in Obihiro City, Hokkaido. The red walled landmark building built with approximately 100,000 Tokachi bricks is home to a very spacious store with a confectionery shop, a cafe, and a product demonstration area. You can purchase all sorts of Rokkatei sweets, such as Marusei Butter Sandwich Cake, a classic Hokkaido souvenir, as well as their strawberry chocolate which is freeze dried strawberry covered with chocolate.

お土産の購入ついでに２階の喫茶室に立ち寄りました。喫茶室を使うことがほとんどなかったので初めて知りましたが、ポイントでコーヒーが飲めるんですね。旅行客なら、お土産の購入代金でコーヒー代が飲めちゃいますよ。

Located close to Otaru Station is this shop of the famous Hokkaido confectioner, LeTAO. In the display inside the shop you can find colorful fresh cakes including their signature cheesecake Double Fromage, and roll cakes, available in limited quantities. Chocolates and baked confectioneries from here are particularly good as gifts. They also have a cafe area which is busy both with locals and tourists.

Located in Jozankei hot spring in Sapporo City, Hokkaido, this old store established in 1931 sells onsen-manju (a bun stuffed with azuki-bean paste and sold in hot spring resorts). The onsen-manju, handmade every day at this store since the olden days, has plenty of black sugar azuki-bean paste packed inside each soft bun. With no added additives the delicious buns have a wonderfully delicate sweet taste. As well as making great gifts they’re nice to munch on while taking a walk around. The shop sells boxes of nine and sixteen onsen-manju.

Here you can find about 100 stores selling such things as sweets, ready-made dishes, bread, box lunches, alcohol, and fresh food, etc. There are also many of the famous Hokkaido confectionery names here such as Rokkatei and LeTAO so it’s a popular place for tourists. You can pick up fresh Hokkaido seafood, fruit and vegetables which is why this place is familiarly known as the local Sapporo kitchen. There’s also a cafe called Kinotoya which is well known for its milk cookies.

This is a large souvenir shop located in the Bay Area of Toyokawa Town in Hakodate City, Hokkaido. It sells roughly 2,000 different kinds of products including seafood and farm produce from Hokkaido, confectionery and dairy products. The fresh fish corner sells locally caught fresh fish, and the processed products of mainly squid, which is a specialty in these parts, are also popular. In the center of the store are also many refrigerated and frozen foods such as crab and salmon. There’s an area where you can eat in and try things like grilled scallops, crab soup, and ikameshi (squid cooked with rice inside), and you can also buy some dried, shredded squid after tasting it at the special sales area.

Yaki Dango Gingetsu is a well-established Japanese confectionery shop in Yunokawa Hot Spring Resort in Hakodate City, Hokkaido. Since its founding in 1966, it has continued to be loved by local residents as a good place for some tea and cake. Its most well-known product, skewered dumplings, features a stretchy texture made with the Hokkaido rice. As well as their classic soy sauce, bean paste and sesame flavors, other seasonal flavors are also popular. They sell other Japanese confections such as dorayaki (а red-bean pancake) and daifuku (a small round mochi stuffed with sweet filling) which are great as souvenirs.

A unique specialty chocolate store managed by the famous Hokkaido confectioner and former chocolate company, LeTAO. More than 50 kinds of chocolate made from a variety of ingredients carefully selected from around the world are on display here in the shop. Of these only about 20 kinds of chocolate are sold at LeTAO le chocolat. They have a wide choice of products only available at the store such as chocolate drinks made by the chocolatiers and the rich and creamy chocolate soft ice cream. The nearest station is Minami-Otaru Station.

This is the place to come for the cheese cake ! There is a small eating corner where you can have your snacks if its not crowded. As my companion hasnt tried it, we ordered 1 slice of cheese cake...
