The Shiretoko Peninsula Brown Bear Boat Cruise explores the Shiretoko Peninsula on a small boat; participants can listen to a guide well-versed in the plants and animals of the area while taking in the dynamic coastline, Kunashiri Island of the Kuril Islands, and the konbu kelp-rich sea. In early fall, you might also catch sight of salmon swimming upstream and the brown bears who come here during this time to eat them. The seafood lunch tour, which includes giving participants the chance to break open Ezo bafun-uni sea urchins before eating their meat with other tasty seafood delights, is particularly popular.

Hokkaido Areas

Not just a prefecture but an island of its own, Hokkaido is the most northerly prefecture and island of the Japanese archipelago. Arriving in Hokkaido, which is rural and bursting with breathtaking nature, means entering a world where vast national parks, towering mountains, and natural hot springs can be found at every turn.
