The specialty of this tourist rest stop is their strawberry daifuku, which feature rice cake stuffed with fresh strawberries picked that morning. It is popular for offering a wide variety of rare and exclusive souvenirs including dried fish from Numazu and wasabi from Izu Amagi. Its scenic self-service restaurant serves up views of Izu's scenery along with homemade udon noodles, kamameshi (a type of Japanese pilaf), and other items carefully crafted with local Izu ingredients.

伊豆縦貫道の途中にあるお土産屋さん。２階に食事処、１階にはお土産屋さんが多数あります。ここのお土産屋さんにしかないものがあるので、こちらに来たら必ず寄ります。行きも帰りもここで一休憩。

A drive-in along the banks of Mikata Goko Lakes in Mikata-kaminaka County, Fukui Prefecture. The “ika don” is famous, loaded with yams, shiso, and fresh diced squid over warm rice and covered with special sauce. The limited-quantity “seafood don” is also popular, with piles of fresh seafood caught that day. The store interior features spacious large glass windows, so you can enjoy a view of the lakes while you eat.

お腹も空いてたし名物「イカ丼」を...と思いましたが時間は16時前でして今食べちゃうと夜御膳の蟹が...と葛藤の末若狭と言えば鯖。鯖と言えば「へしこ」です。ドライブインよしだの「へしこ」を購入次回は「イカ丼」を必ずたべます!!

It features a large room, and seven medium-sized private rooms, and offers a variety of lodging plans. The restaurant has a bright, spacious interior with a nice expansive feeling, and includes a diverse menu. The shop also features a great selection of souvenirs.

Tried this restaurant yesterday (Sunday, 28 August). The service is fast and the food is delicious, as well as good looking. The presentation was even better:the rice was shaped like Mount Fuji...

"This drive-in is located beside Kusaki Lake in Midori City, Gunma Prefecture. The store sells two thousand Yomogi Manju every day, a rice cake which Joetsu Kusaki Lake is famous for, which has a rich flavor and chewy texture. It also sells various souvenirs, Maitake mushrooms, pickles and tea limited to the Tochigi and Gunma Prefectures. In the restaurant, customers can enjoy Kamameshi set meal, hot pot meals and soba set meals with Maitake mushrooms such as ""Sakura"" or ""Autumn Leaves"". ５月で駐車場に鯉のぼりや武者幟がはためいていました。公園や食事処もあるようでしたが、今回はツアーの休憩立ち寄りで土産物屋を利用。定番のソフトクリームをいただきました。源頼朝が行った「富士の巻狩り史跡」という立派な石碑が目を引きました。

"At an altitude of 2,100 meters, this drive-in is on National Route 292, the highest in Japan. The two-story building has a souvenir shop on the first floor and a lookout restaurant on the second floor. A nearby lift will bring you to the summit of Mt. Yokote and there's also a moving walkway known as the ""Skylater."" It's open from April until early November."

We drove past the place at noon and evening and caught sight of the sea of clouds. The view was simply amazing with the clouds flowing like waterfall off the cliff.

「浄蓮の滝」の駐車場にある土産物店兼お食事処。名産のわさびを中心とした品揃え。食事のメニューにもわさび丼がある。わさび丼には魅かれたがお腹が空いていなかったので外の売店でわさびソフト(400円)を購入。アイスはほんのり緑色。口に入れると少しだけわさびの香り。特別おいしいという訳ではないが話のネタにどうぞ。ちなみに修善寺駅の売店では同じようなわさびソフトが350円です。

This Kihoku Parking Area is located on the Kisei Expressway in Kihoku-cho, Mie Prefecture. Because it is in the World Heritage Kumano Kodo's Hajikami-toge Pass, it received the nickname Hajikami Terrace. The antenna shop Kihokuniya offers dried and fresh fish and collaboration products, and you can taste unique cuisine from Kihoku-cho using local food ingredients and specialty products at Tanemaki Gonbei Cafe & Restaurant. Sunfish is the special local fish in Kihoku Town, and the okonomi taiyaki, a sunfish-shaped sweets, is popular in the take-out corner.

地元特産のヒノキをふんだんに使った施設で、とても気持ちが良いです。レストランでは伊勢うどんと始神丼を食べました。初めて伊勢うどんを食べましたが、ふわふわうどんと甘い醤油で美味しくいただきました。このレストランも地元で作ったと思われる家具が設置されていて、ほかのパーキングとは違う上質な雰囲気。2階の休憩室はひろびろとしており、誰もいなかったので一歳の子供がのびのび遊べました。おすすめの場所です。

"A 24-hour rest area located close to the Nanakoshiyama kofun burial mound, a designated Important Cultural Property situated on the outskirts of Fujioka City. Interestingly, instead of a diner style restaurant typical of Japanese ""drive-in"" rest areas, the facility is filled with retro hot food vending machines which cook your food to order, and visitors can find examples of each of the ""big three"" retro hot food vending machine varieties: noodles, toast, and hamburgers. Vending machine enthusiasts travel from around the country to try these machines and the rest area has also famously been used as a shooting location for films and television dramas. The rest area's chashu noodles, made with home crafted chashu roast pork, are popular with many, even excluding the novelty of the fact they come out of a vending machine."

A drive-in restaurant on National Route 33 that connects Matsuyama and Kochi. They serve oden hot pots, soba noodles, and meal sets in a rural teahouse with an old-fashioned ambiance. Originally, this area was a rest stop for rickshaw pullers and travelers. The teahouse began selling rice cakes and sweets at the end of the Meiji period. Their oden hot pots eaten with sweet miso and grilled amego salmon skewers are famous, and their Japanese mugwort manju buns—a local favorite—often sell out quickly. Since its founding over 80 years ago, the shop's been a favorite of locals and travelers alike.

5年前、たまたま立ち寄って、購入したヨモギ入り焼き餅が美味しくて、再訪。やっぱり美味しい。安い！のんびりした雰囲気のドライブイン。ホッとできる場所です。

Meihan Seki Drive-In is a huge drivers' oasis located at the Seki Interchange on the Meihan Expressway, the trunk highway that links the sightseeing areas of Mie Prefecture with the Chubu and Kansai regions. On the first floor are Restaurant Sekitei, which serves meals featuring seasonal flavors and local cuisine; Seki Honjin, where diners can enjoy Japanese cuisine while looking out over a central garden, and an open kitchen-type food court, which travelers can eat not only standard dishes such as curry and ramen but also local specialties. The souvenir plaza sells famous local sweets from Kameyama, Matsusaka Beef Curry, and famous products of the Ise-Shima area. This large rest stop facility is located in Tokyowan Ferry Kanaya Port. The facility houses Shokusai Ichiba, a souvenir shop which boasts one of the largest souvenir sales floors and selections on the Boso Peninsula; the Harunatei restaurant; and another restaurant specifically designed for large groups and which has seating for 550 people. Shokusai Ichiba carries a wide selection of famous Chiba products and is a convenient place to search for souvenirs on the way home from a day of sightseeing. The ferry terminal also has a wonderful view. On clear days, visitors can see Mt. Fuji, the Izu Peninsula, and Oshima Island.

東京湾フェリーの金谷側のフェリーターミナル内にある食堂です。海鮮系メインの食堂で各種海鮮丼や浜焼きなどを食べることができます。釣り鯵丼とアジフライをいただきましたが、プリプリしていてとてもおいしかったです。軽食系もありましたのでフェリーの待ち時間にサクッと食事するのにも便利そうです。

The rest stop's roast beef donburi rice bowl, featured on television, is limited to just a few customers a day and consists of homemade roast beef served over rice with a side salad of alpine vegetables, an exquisite flavor combination. The restaurant, which also accepts large groups and is equipped with parking spaces for full-sized busses, is visited by many tourists.

This restaurant was obviously geared towards providing food for large groups, as testified by the number of buses parked outside and the number of tour groups (mainly Chinese) eating at the tables...
