Tadasu no Mori is an old-growth woodland located inside the grounds of Shimogamo-jinja Shrine in Kyoto's Sakyo Ward. It contains lush stands of zelkova, hackberry and other trees. In 1994, it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Four small streams flow through the forest, making it a popular spot for emotional and spiritual refreshment. Sasayaki no Komichi (whispering lane) is a path alongside the Yagasaki River. The murmur of the stream, surrounded on both sides by Japanese andromeda plants, is a pleasure to the ears. It is also the stage of Tatsuo Hori's novel, Beautiful Village. The sunshine through the leaves of the acacia trees is beautiful.

This row of pine trees is located along the old Tokaido road in Maisaka, Maisaka-cho, Nishi Ward, Hamamatsu City. Pine trees were first planted along the road here in 1604 by the Tokugawa shogunate. At one point there more than 1,400 pine trees were planted here. Currently, there are more than 300 planted pine trees over a span of about 700 meters of the old road. Visitors are sure to recognize the vestiges of the ancient Tokaido road.
