    This observation tower is in Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture. The only under-sea observation point in the Sea of Japan, the 24 underwater windows offer a view seven meters below sea level, allowing observation of around thirty different sea creatures in their natural environment. In addition, the confluence of the Japan Current with the Tsushima Current allows glimpses of tropical fish, and the above-water deck offers views of islands in the Genkai Sea in three directions.

    A tower located in 1 Chome, Heiwa Park, Chikusa Ward, Nagoya City. It is built on a water distribution area on the north side of Heiwa Park. It has a 40-meter-high observation room with a view of the Higashiyama Sky Tower, Nagoya city, and the surrounding mountains.

    This observatory is located on National Route 317 in Arouzu, Hakata-cho, Imabari City. Visitors can look down onto Funaori Seto, a narrow 300 meter-wide strait between Hakata Island and Ushima Island known for some of the most perilous rapids in the Seto Inland Sea. The observatory is adjacent to the Funaori Seto Campsite.

    Aomori Higashitsugaru-gun Sotogahamamachi
    A 15-minute walk from JR Kanita Station. This landmark tower was erected in 1996. The glass-walled tower faces Kanranzan Park Beach and, after climbing 108 spiral steps, visitors can enjoy a sweeping view of Mutsu Bay from the tower's observation deck. On the first floor, visitors will wind a local specialty products corner where they can buy local products and specialties from the Tsugaru-Shimokita area; as well as an embarkation platform for a ferry crossing Mutsu Bay. A mini restaurant on the second floor serves Chinese cuisine, and here visitors can enjoy a relaxing meal along with a view of Mutsu Bay and the Shimokita Peninsula.

    An observatory situated 141 meters above sea level in Utatsuyama Park. From here, visitors can get a sweeping view of the homes of Kanazawa, roofed with shining black tiles; the Sea of Japan; and the Hakusan Mountains. At night, visitors can enjoy a nightscape dominated by the high rise hotels in front of Kanazawa Station, but be sure to also check out the night view from the Miharashidai observatory in the park, as well.

    The Highland Koshimizu 725 rest-house is located in the northern corner of Akan National Park, on the slopes of Mt. Mokoto (which is 1,000 meters high). The observation terrace provides a superb 300-degree panoramic view of the Sea of Okhotsk, the Shiretoko Mountain Range, Lake Kussyaro, etc. In the early morning on days when the weather is good, visitors can sometimes see the spectacular “Sea of Clouds” phenomenon. The rest-house has a highly-regarded restaurant where visitors can enjoy dishes made using local ingredients.

    This observation deck in Monbetsu City Hokkaido lets you view up to 1000 meter off the Monbetsu coast. The first floor of this four story tower is built 10 meters under the water. It is not only a tourist attraction for observing the Okhotsk Sea, but a research facility. In the winter you can view the Shiretoko Mountains capped in snow or the drift ice on the sea.

    Out past the western edge of the Tatsukushi Coast within Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park is the only at-sea lookout tower in the Shikoku/Chugoku region. The interior features 60 centimeter-diameter round windows in all directions, providing you with a glimpse at the sea floor seven meters underwater. You can often see colorful coral and tropical fish, as well as migratory fish like sardines and silver-striped herrings in some seasons. The facilities also include a restaurant with a view of Tatsukushi Coast, and a souvenir shop offering local specialty goods, making this a great place for tourists to take a break in the middle of a long drive.

    This mountain pass is in Chino City, Nagano Prefecture. There is a tea house at the top of the pass, as well as a free observation deck. From there you get a sweeping view from the Yatsugatake Mountain's Kirigamine Highland, all the way to the Northern Japan Alps. In the evening, visitors are treated to the magical sight of Lake Suwa bathed in red light as the sun sets behind the Northern Alps.

    This tower is located on the grounds of Shuzenji Temple, famous for being Izu's oldest hot springs spa. The tower features an observation deck with a commanding view of the area. Its name stems from a poem by novelist Soseki Natsume, who loved Shuzenji. Next to the twelve meter-tall tower is the Hakoyu, a simple hot springs facility offering indoor baths where bathers can relax and enjoy baths full of the scent of Japanese cypress.

    This terrace is at Daikanbo Station on the Tateyama Trolley Tunnel Bus and Tateyama Ropeway lines. It protrudes over a sheer cliff over Daikanbo peak, and although there is no outside access apart from on the roof, the station rooftop observation platform offers a fantastic view. The huge panorama of lake Kurobe and Ushiro Tateyama, featuring the pinnacle of the Alpen route.

    This free observation deck is in the Toyama City Hall, on Joshi-odori avenue in Shinsakura-machi, Toyama City. Located 70 meters in the air, and offers a lovely 360 degree panorama view of the Toyama Cityscape, Tateyama mountain range, Toyama bay, and more. There are binoculars with audio guide attached, and on Christmas, New Year's and during the White Illumination Toyama event, they have special opening hours.

    This observation facility is in Sarukurayama Forest Park in Prefectural Route 67, in Funakura, Toyama City. Located around the 345 meter high peak of Mt. Sarukura, it offers a view of the Toyama plain and Toyama bay, and in fall you can enjoy the foliage of Jinzu gorge. The deck has a barbecue area, and the grounds also have a lawn, play equipment, and campground.

    An observations deck in the Suizu Parking Area on the southbound side of the Hokuriku Expressway in Suizu, Tsuruga City. A well-known scenic location overlooking Tsuruga Bay there's an anecdote that when Emperor Taisho was riding a train along the former Hokuriku Main Line and was stopped at Suizu Station in this same location he delayed the departure of the train as he was so taken by the view. This is a great place to watch the setting sun sink below the horizon and there's also a Lover's Heart Lock installation where you can attach a padlock to swear your love.
