    Kumamoto Aso-gun Minamiogunimachi Akababa 1789-1
"This large local specialty products market's name is derived from the Japanese phrase ""kiyoraka ni utsukushi"" (clean/excellent and beautiful) and that Latin word for home/building. The pyramidal market building stands along National Route 212 and embodies the desire to aim for the realization of a town with a clean environment, excellent goods, and excellent people via the work and involvement of everyone living in the community. Ishikawa Pref. Kanazawashi Hirosaka 1-2-25 Inside the Kanazawa Noh Museum
A traditional crafts shop located inside the Kanazawa Noh Museum in Hirosaka, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. Stocking 20 or more varieties of popular traditional crafts from Kanazawa, a former castle town and cultural leader of the Kaga area, here you’ll find handcrafted postcards created with Kaga yuzen techniques, saikumono handiwork, and more. The shop also carries rarer traditional crafts like Kaga zogan inlay work, Kaga mizuhiki zaiku cordwork, and Kaga kebari lures. At this popular destination, you’ll be able to buy unique Kaga souvenirs which combine the skills of artisans with the chic tastes of a Japanese castle town.

Fascinating crafts and artwork. Handcrafted, unique gifts. Simply fun to explore the shop. Who might have thought that fishing lures were art? Prices are fair for the caliber of the work.

    Gifu Pref. Hidashi Furukawachouichinomachi 3-12
This Japanese candle shop is about five minutes on foot from the JR Takayama Main Line Hida Furukawa Station on Ichinomachi Street, which is sometimes used as a set for TV dramas. There are very few Japanese candle shops. Founded over 240 years ago, it’s said this is the only one that makes all their products by hand. The candles are perfect vegetable based, so they don’t give off much soot and maintain a flame well. They’re also used for the traditional event known as Santera Mairi, the Three Temple Pilgrimage. The candles make popular souvenirs, and you can see them being made at the store.

Facing Saigawa-odori Avenue and located close to the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa and the Kenrokuen garden, the shop sells gold leaf materials and gold leaf crafts and also holds a variety of workshops. The gold leaf ice cream activity, in which you apply gold leaf to a soft serve ice cream cone, is also popular.

Kyoto Kyoto-shi Nakagyo-ku Sanjodori Kawaramachi Nishi Iru
A needle specialty shop with a large signboard announcing its location on Sanjo-dori Street just off of Kawaramachi-dori Street. The store itself is just along a narrow alley. Misuyabari needles, created as if they were little katana swords, are set apart by the lack of resistance you'll feel when sewing. By adding a small angle to the tip of the needle too small to be seen with the naked eye as well as vertical streaks during the polishing process they create needles that pass through the fabric without cutting the threads. It's also fun to look at their array of needles that you wouldn't normally see including American needles, silk needles, and pongee needles.
