- With a total length of 3,500 meters, this large limestone cave formed by underground water dissolving coral limestone was discovered in 1963. The view of countless silvery-white stalactites dangling from the ceiling is extraordinary, and the cave has a mysterious beauty that is said to be the best in the East. Approximately 600 meters is open to the public, and visitors can see stalactites and stalagmites with names such as Christmas Tree, Diamond Palace, and Crab Walk.

- Onigashima Cave

- This large cave is on Megijima Island, associated with Onigashima from Japan's Momotaro legend. Located part way up Mt. Washigamine in the center of the island, it covers about 4,000 square meters and is 400 meters deep. It's popular for its reproductions of an ogre banquet hall, living room, and ogre guard's quarters from the story. The gift shop next to the cave serves millet dumplings, a favorite of the legend's hero.

- Located immediately by the Saigo Takamori Dokutsu-mae bus stop on the Kagoshima City View route, this cave is where Saigo Takamori spent his last days with the administrators of his private school during the final stages of the Satsuma rebellion after returning from fighting numerous battles around Kyushu in 1877. They spent the six days from September 19th through 24th in this cave. It is a vital historic landmark as the site where Saigo lead the Satsuma army at the Battle of Shiroyama against the government military until the end. It was designated as a historic landmark of Kagoshima City in 1974.

- "This solution cave is in Mine City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Located on the northeast side of Akiyoshidai Quasi-National Park, you can inspect the cave and see mysterious natural phenomenon like the Entrance to Hell, Staggering Aisle, and Shishi-iwa ""lion"" rock. Inside the cave, the guides can supply music and guidance during your exploration via the MAG-CEIVER system."

- Kagekiyo Cave

- This solution cave is in Mine City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Legend says that the Heike general Taira no Kagekiyo hid here after the Battle of Dan-no-Ura. Visitors can check the ceiling and walls contains the fossils for fusulinida shells, coral, and seaweed, and enjoy the art of nature. On a separate course, there is an exploration course where visitors can look for fossils, and creatures of the dark.

- This small limestone cave is located in Totsui, Yura Town, Hidaka County. Approximately 100 meters long, it was formed more than 250 million years ago. It is open to the public on weekends and holidays and during long vacations of local elementary and junior high schools. Visitors can view stalactites inside a cool environment that stays around 15 degrees Celsius all year.

- This is a cluster of ouketsu (giant's kettles) in Yanaigawa, Kumakogen town, Kamiukena district. There are roughly 30 of these holes worn in the stone by flowing water and stones in the river, making a rare site that is a designated National Natural Monument. The Yakama (eight pots) name comes from the eight particularly large holes. There are roughly 1. 2 kilometers of maintained trail along national route 440.

- A limestone cave famous for its pure spring water. The highly regarded spring has been selected as one Iwate's Top 20 Water Sources. There is also an Inari Shrine there and a vermilion torii gate as you approach the cave. There are two areas to collect water, one at the front of the cave and one further back. There is also a tricycle parking area nearby for the convenience of locals collecting water. This pure spring water is used to grow wasabi, a local specialty.

- Kunne-poru means black cave in the native Ainu language. The mouth of this giant gave gapes wide amidst the sheer cliffs of the Shiretoko coastline. A deep cave, true to its name the inner depths are dark and impenetrable from the outside. Facing the sea, the face can only be seen by riding a sightseeing boat from Utoro. The surrounding area is a habitat for brown bears and if you are lucky, you'll be able to see some from the boat.

- Nyatiya Sinus, located up to 10 minutes by car from Ie Island Port, is a natural grotto. It is said that a wish comes true if a woman who wants to be blessed with a child lifts a lifting stone (bijiruishi) so it is popular as a spiritual place. As it was used to accommodate many people as air-raid shelter during World War II, it is also known as the “one thousand people cave (gama)”.

- "A stone cave located at the top of a mountain (commonly called ""Iwaya-san"") in the back of Shukunegi, Sado City. Geomorphologically, it is a sea-eroded cave, but it is sometimes called ""Iwaya Cave"" because oyster shells used to adhere to it. It is also known as a sacred site where Buddhist monks built Magaibutsu (Buddha statues in cliffs and rocks), 88 Buddhist statues, and a Kannon-do hall in the cave."

- The Ganmon Cave is a cave 6 meters wide, 15 meters tall, and 60 meters deep, created by water erosion, and it is a fine representation of Noto Kongo. With the grand Sea of Japan stretching out and old pines packed above the cave entrance, you are presented with a wild and beautiful view. Approximately 30 minutes by car via Nishiyama Interchange on the Noto Satoyama Kaido.

- A Natural Monument designated by Gujo City, the Miyama Limestone Cave is a treasure trove of ancient history created by mother nature. It stays roughly 15-16°C year-round, so it is cool in summer and warm in winter, and it takes 30-40 minutes to explore. Also, it is a limestone cave without lighting, so you can engage in spelunking (cave exploration) if you want. Closed from December to early March. Approximately 25 minutes by car via Gujo Hachiman Interchange on the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway.

- Rokan-do Cave is a 3,635 meter deep limestone cave. The dome where the waterfall falls is 60 meters in height and 50 meters in circumference and is known as “the waterfall of the heavenly cave”, making this Japan’s tallest waterfall in a cave. The roughly 29-meter fall makes this waterfall spectacularly powerful. Try their famous Waterfall Soba—you eat soba noodles from bamboo slides likened to the waterfall water.

- This rocky mountain has an altitude of 670 meters and is located inside Tenryu-Okumikawa Quasi-National Park. There are many Kannon statues enshrined within the cave, and there is also a natural stone gateway called Tsutenmon near the summit. It has been selected as a place of scenic beauty and also as a natural monument, and many visitors climb the mountain to see it. The mountain itself is also famous as a popular place for free climbing.

On the sides of the entrance to the Komakado Kazaana Cave, underground water of Mt. Fuji springs up, and you can drink it."
