There are maintained walking trails so you can stroll through the scenic woods, as well. There are many old trees that offer brilliant foliage in fall, so this is a particularly popular spot in that season. Nagano Saku-shi Uchiyama
Located about 10 minutes by bus from Nakagome Station or about 20 minutes by car from the Saku Minami IC, this valley near Route 254 is a place where visitors can enjoy the magnificent nature with many strange and mysterious rocks such as Hime-Iwa, Napoleon-Iwa, Byobu-Iwa, and Candle-Iwa. The area is also a great place to enjoy the changing scenery of the four seasons, with peach blossoms in early May and cosmos in mid-September.

    奇岩の景勝地として知られていますが、駐車場や中心地がありません。 まあ、山の紅葉と岩肌なのでどこからでも見えるのですが、観光を楽しむとか散策をたのしむとかができるとよいかな。

  • Oni no Shitaburui
    Travel / Tourism
    Shimane Pref. Nitagunokuizumochou Minari 1417-6
"This three-kilometer ravine runs along the Omaki River (a tributary of the Hii River) in Okuizumo Town, Shimane Prefecture. It's thought the name ""Oni-no Shitaburui"" is a corruption of the line ""Wani-no Shitaburu"" from the Izumo Province Fudoki. Many distinctive rock formations have been carved out by the flow of the river over the years. There are numerous round potholes scraped into the stone of the riverbed too, creating some fantastic scenery. A promenade along the river lets you take in the whole ravine. "
  • Sarutobi Gorge

A walkway runs to the Sarutobikyo Observatory from Keyakidaira Station, the final stop on the Torokko Electric Railway that passes along the Kurobe Gorge. The tourist season gets busy with hikers who come to see the many highlights like the red arch bridge along the way. "

    Tokushima Pref. Miyoshishi Nishiyayamamuratanouchi
"A valley located in Iya, counted as one of three most secluded areas in Japan. ""Hinoji"" means ""the character of hi"" and is derived from the section of the beautiful Iya River which flows here in the shape of the Japanese hiragana character ""hi."" Also a renowned destination for viewing fall foliage, in autumn the entire valley, from the floor to the top of the surrounding peaks, becomes covered in spectacular color. Be sure to check out the Mannekin Pis statue and the ""Kazurabashi Yumebutai"" tourist facility."
  • Namegawa Gorge

    Ehime Pref. Touonshi Myouga
This hinterlands valley is around 8 kilometers from the famous cherry-blossom viewing area, Sakura-Sanri, along National Route 11. Come experience the mysteries of nature in this valley and see the Namera, a river bed made from one large spacious rock that stretches almost a kilometer in length, as well as potholes formed by smaller stones caught in the whirlpools cutting into the larger boulders. A popular spot in the spring when the new verdant green leaves emerge and during the summer as a cool place to escape the heat. With amazing autumn colors in the fall and icicles stretching longer than two meters in the winter, there's something to enjoy here year-round. This valley with its mysterious rockface formed over countless years has certainly earned its reputation as a secluded natural power spot (spiritual place with energy vortex).
