    This is a beautiful highland that spreads out around Mt. Kuruma, the highest peak in the Kirigamine Mountain Range, where around 600 types of alpine plants grow. The view from Mt. Kuruma’s summit is exquisite, overlooking the Southern Alps (Akaishi Mountains), Mt. Fuji, Mt. Yatsugatake and the Asama Mountain Range. In summer one can enjoy hiking or trekking, and in winter skiing.

    Easy to climbing to the top from the nearest parking. We can enjoy its view like Kirigamine Prairie and Lake Shilakaba.

    Shikoku Karst is a scenic spot noted as being one of the three largest karsts (geological feature) in Japan. The karst stretches for about 25 kilometers east to west and sits at a height of 1,000 to 1,500 meters above sea level. The Shikoku Karst is also the source of the Shimanto River, said to be the last clear stream in Japan on account of there not being any dams on the river. In the spring, Japanese andromeda and Rhododendrons bloom, and throughout the summer visitors can see the small red Carnation flowers. Visitors can also enjoy the beauty of the four seasons with the Maiden Silvergrass in the fall and the frost-covered trees in the winter.     Senjogahara Plateau is located in Oku-Nikko which is home to abundant nature, which was formerly a lake but has been transformed into a wetlands, and it is a vast area which is proportionate to the size of 85 Tokyo Domes. The god of Mt. Nantai and the god of Mt. Akagi had a battle here and thus the origin of the name of “Senjo” (battlefield) wetlands. There is a nature exploration route maintained, which you can walk through in about two hours. You can enjoy as many as 350 varieties of plants and numerous birds.

    "The Soni Highlands in Uda County, Nara Prefecture, are known for Okame Pond. The highlands extend out from the western foothills of Mt. Kameyama, so called because it resembles the back of a turtle (""kame"" in Japanese) when viewed from 1038-meter Mt. Kuroso (one of the Japan's 300 famous mountains). Chinese silvergrass grows throughout the highlands, and every year in mid March, the hills are subjected to controlled burning, so that visitors can enjoy the fresh greenery on the hills in the summer. At Okame Pond, which features in a famous legend, visitors can see rare plants that grow only in wetlands. One of the best hiking routes in the Kansai region for families (the Kogen Daisuki Course or ""I Love the Highlands Route"") is located here, and hikers can see the National Natural Monuments, Yoroi Dake (""Armor Peak""), Kabuto Dake (""Helmet Peak""), and Byobu Iwa (""Screen Rock"")."

The highland is host to a resort facility comprised of the Kijima Kogen Park amusement park, which also operates a skating rink in winter; the Kijima Kogen Golf Club; and the Kijima Kogen Hotel. The highland is a convenient 15-minute drive from the popular tourist destinations of Beppu and Yufuin.

    結構小さな子供がよろこぶ乗り物があり、ほぼ一日中楽しんだ。レストランの昼食メニューも子供向けに考えられていて、満足できた。

    A plateau resort 1,250 meters above ground, you’ll find a “romance area” with zinnias and rudbeckias, and in the “white birch area,” you’ll see Fujimi Kougen heremocallis, hydrangeas, and a number of seasonal blooms. There’s also an observation platform from which you can view Mt. Fuji, the South Alps (Akaishi Mountains), and the North Alps (Hida Mountains) on a sunny day, basking in the grandeur of nature. Handicapped individuals can borrow outdoors wheelchairs for free.

    富士見公園天空カートで頂上までいきます。上りも下りも、人が歩く速さで移動します。白樺が綺麗で、高山植物も見ながら進みます。快晴の天気はそれほど望めないとのことでしたが、幸運に恵まれ、頂上の展望台からは、綺麗が富士山を仰ぐことができました。次は、徒歩で挑戦したいです。

    This expansive park is located along Prefectural Route 118 on a 500-meter-high plateau straddling the border of Kumamoto Prefecture and Kagoshima Prefecture. The roughly three-hectare park has been planted with rape blossoms, hydrangea, cosmos, and other flowers. It is best known for the 100,000 rape blossoms that bloom in the spring and the 250,000 cosmos that bloom in the fall. Many tourists to visit the park during the cosmos season to view the vast fields of pink flowers from the park's observatory. Visitors can also purchase local vegetables at the markets held in the park at this time. The park also holds hands-on food education events such as making ice cream with milk produced local in Izumi as well as pizza making using a brick oven.

Chosen as one of Japan's Top 100 Forest Bathing Areas, there are many people who come to take in the forest atmosphere and for nature walks. In front of Bijodaira Station stand a couple of legendary Bijosugi (beautiful lady cedar) trees, which are known as a symbol for the fulfillment of love.

    Bijin-bayashi Forest in Tokamachi, which has a different but equally beautiful appearance in every season of the year, is a forest of beech trees that were planted around 90 years ago, located on hilly ground in Matsuguchi; the elegant form of the beech trees led to the Forest being given the name “Bijin-bayashi” (“Forest of Beauties”). In winter, snowshoes can be rented from the nearby Echigo-Matsunoyama Museum of Natural Science. Bijin-bayashi Forest is located around 15minute bus ride from Matsudai Station on the Hokuetsu Express Hokuhoku Line.
