    A factory located a five-minute drive from the Ami-higashi interchange on the Ken-O Expressway. The factory, opened in 2014, makes Megmilk Snow Brand dairy products such as processed cheeses and margarine. The factory makes some 200 varieties of products, making it the largest operated by Megmilk Snow Brand. Visitors can have fun here while learning about cheese and margarine, take commemorative photos using special photo sets, try a virtual reality experience which shows how cheese is made, and sample some of the company's products.

    町内会で予約、最新のチーズ工場見学をしました。2014年から稼働、ここで雪印のチーズやマーガリンを製造、全国に出荷してるそうです。初めに大型スクリーンで工場の概要を見てから見学しますが、ロボット導入で人がとても少なかったです。途中、VR(バーチャルリアリティ)体験、幼稚園の年長児くらいから楽しめそうです。最後にチーズの試食、売店でお買い物も出来ました。人気で予約が取りにくいようですがお勧めです。

    An arts and crafts village located a 60-minute drive from the Okinawa-Minami Interchange. The village origins date back to when Ryukyu dynasty King Sho Tei gathered various pottery studios here to promote the development of the ceramics industry. There are 19 independent pottery studios in the village, and visitors can experience the traditions, culture, and history of Okinawan ceramics. The village's thick pottery, decorated with placid designs, are sold in two communal shops, and visitors can purchase Yomitanzan ware and Okinawan lion dog statues, each different in appearance and feel from the next depending on the studio and potter which made it. Some of the studios also have their own distinctive galleries and offer pottery making classes.

The program features the production process, an introduction of the company and its products, a video screening, product tastings, etc.

    An old-fashioned liquor store located in Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture. Affiliated with a long-standing sake brewery founded in 1794, the store sells local sakes made with Fukushima-grown rice and yeast. The shop carries a variety of sakes, such as sakes designed to be drunk during a meal characterized by their profound flavor and clean aftertaste. With an advance reservation, visitors can tour the sake brewery. The shop also always offers sake samples.

    A traditional craft museum located on Washinosato Street in Shinzaike-cho 9-Chome, Echizen City. The building was originally a papermaking house dating back to the mid Edo period and you can explore the entirety of the traditional Echizen-Washi papermaking technique, which dates back nearly 1500 years. They also hold traditional Nagashizuki papermaking courses that you can attend. The local area has long been known as a papermaking area and includes other facilities such as the Paper and Culture Museum.

    My artist daughter found this paper making village and this studio/museum in particular online--Echizen seems to be the region and Udatsu the village in particular. A gorgeous, alpine-like area 90...

    This museum located in and run by the paper factory Taihou Wasi Kougyou is a 10-minute walk from JR and Kintetsu Iseshi Station. Established in 1899, they make the paper used at Ise Jingu Shrine. They sell a wide range of Ise washi paper and also have exhibits on the history of paper products, paper making tools, and more. There are also panel explanations of the paper making process, and you can use the machine they provide to make an Ise washi print. They hold paper related events on the second Saturday of the month, and with advance reservation you can make small paper items or even try making washi paper itself.

    伊勢神宮を訪問後にプラプラ歩いていたら、発見しました、店内は和紙が多くあり、とても綺麗で感動しました。お土産にも最適です。

    This sake museum is on National Route 465. You can observe their facilities from the viewing area, as well as taste about 20 kinds of refined sake from the Koizumi Brewery, known for its fine Tokaizakari brew. The museum area displays daily items and sake brewing equipment dating from the Edo period. The gift shop offers limited availability brews and sweets made with sake, and there is also a tea room that offers Daiginjo sake soft serve ice cream.

    店内には、東山魁夷の残照という絵のポスターがあり、この絵が書かれたのはこの付近。 利き酒をかなり飲むことができる。 多くの種類があったものの、それぞれが小分けにされていて、それを飲むことができた。

    Kiyoken, Yokohama Factory in Tsuzuki Ward, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture is a manufacturing factory for shumai (a steamed meat dumpling), which is the famous Yokohama specialty. You can learn about the history of Kiyoken on VTR and tour the actual manufacturing process of shumai and bento (a take away lunch). At the end of the tour, you can sample fresh shumai, side dishes for a shumai bento and Chinese sweets. A booking is required for a factory tour, however, you can partially experience the factory tour without a booking at the Petit Museum Shop in the factory. You can also purchase some freshly made products at the factory at lower that retail price to taste. It also sells the Hyochan goods, the mascot of Kiyoken.

    This studio and workshop facility is about an eight-minute drive from Kobe-Awaji-Naruto Expressway's Higashiura Interchange. It is the only place in Japan where you can try making paper fukimodoshi party blowbacks, a traditional toy. They're known by other names in Japan too and have attracted attention in recent years for medical, therapeutic, and beautification purposes. It's a fun workshop for parents and kids alike. The shop sells about 50 varieties of party blow backs.

    入場料は800円に値上がりしていました。 説明を聞いて、吹き戻しを6つ作ります。 色々な組み合わせを考えて、ペンもあるのでイラストも入れ、子どもは楽しそうに作っていました。紙を丸くするのは、少し大人の手が必要でした。

    They say that Ushikubi-tsumugi weaving began with mechanical weaving techniques passed down by the wife and daughters of a certain Oohata who was a Genji fugitive and flowed to Ushikubi Village after his defeat by Heike in the Heiji rebellion of 1159. Here, you can learn about the historical sericulture and textile arts of the Shiramine area, from silk reeling, reclamation, and refining. They also offer reservation-only activities like hataori weaving and making silk cocoon dolls.

    The Tokachi Wine research and manufacturing facility has been nicknamed the “Ikeda Wine Castle” because of its resemblance to a medieval European castle. Visitors can look round the exhibition rooms, which have displays on the grape cultivation and wine-making techniques used to produce Tokachi wines, and can also visit the wine maturation cellars where vintage wines are aged. The wine tasting area, restaurant, and shopping area selling wines and other local specialties are all very popular with visitors.

    A shiro dashi stock factory located in Hekinan City, Aichi Prefecture. Owned and operated by Shichifuku Jozo KK, the company which invented shiro dashi, visitors can observe the shiro dashi production process. Factory tourists can see with their own eyes how shiro dashi and shiro shoyu (white soy sauce) is made, from preparation to bottling. Tours are allowed for even just one person, and at the end, attendees can also sample dishes made with shiro dashi.

    二度目の訪問でした。七福さんの白だしがとても気に入っています。最初は友達からのプレゼントでした。それ以来なくなると買いにいきます。無添加で安心ですし、鍋に・煮物に・卵かけご飯にと・・いろいろな料理につかっています。味が大変おいしくなります。

    歴史のある老舗のお漬物屋さんです。店内に入ると我々観光客だけでなく地元の皆さんも訪れます。スタッフの応対は丁寧です。大変よい買物ができました。季節柄「山ごぼう たまり漬」、「鳥海うどみそら漬」、「燻製たくあん」、「沖田なす浅漬」が時季外れで購入できず残念でした。

    Of all the traditional industries of Toyama Prefecture, Gokayama washi (Japanese paper) has the longest history. So long, in fact, that there are even records of it being dedicated to Maeda Toshinaga, the head of the Kaga Domain, over 500 years ago. This agricultural association located in Shimonashi, Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture sells this historic washi paper in the form of paper for paintings and calligraphy, washi-based folk crafts, and various washi-based sundries. It also launched the GOKKA brand of modern washi-based products such as gift bags and letter boxes. The association, which is located 1.5 kilometers east of the World Heritage site Ainokura Gassho-zukuri Village on Route 304, also offers paper-making lessons and facility tours.

    相倉合掌造り集落にある和紙漉き体験館です。天狗のあしあとをさらに進んだ奥に位置しています。店名だと思いますが、和紙屋の看板も出ています。和紙漉き体験はしませんが、ショップでたくさんお和紙の製品が販売されています。職人の手漉きの「耳付きはがき」10枚セットを650円で買い求めました。

    This soy sauce maker is approximately ten minutes on foot from JR Yuasa Station. The establishment is recognizable by its Kinzanji-miso sign. You can tour the brewery under a worker's guidance and get up close to cedar barrels that have been in use for over 100 years. They provide visitors experiences not available at other soy sauce breweries, like the chance to stir the contents of these old barrels, helping the fermentation process along. They also sell merchandise including specialty items like soy sauce made just for the specific food, yuzu-ponzu sauce, and their top prize winning Kiippon Kuromame Shoyu of Yuasa Soy Sauce. Their cafe serves coffee and soy sauce soft serve ice cream.

They also have a program where you can try making chikuwa and kamaboko yourself with fresh fish paste (reservations required).

    This longstanding Tobe-yaki kiln opened in 1882 in Tobe Town, Iyo County, Ehime Prefecture. It is the largest potter in town, and they allow visitors to observe the manufacturing process inside the factory and examine climbing kilns that were used in the past (designated as Tangible Cultural Properties by the town). There’s also a museum with pottery on display and materials on the history of the potter, as well as an adjoining sales area. The sales area offers many exquisite and sturdy Baizangama wares featuring simple yet beautiful hand-drawn designs based on the traditional Tobe-yaki style that emphasizes both function and beauty.

    砥部焼観光センター炎の里にて拝見した”梅山焼”に興味が湧き 窯元まで足を伸ばしました。 工場直売店ですが、梅山焼以外も扱っている、とのことです。 普段使いの品物が欲しかったので、B級アウトレット品を 安価で購入出来、満足でした。
