The temple is the 33th temple on the Saigoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage and, as befits a temple which represents the end of a journey spent adhering to ascetic principles, there is an underground, pitch black Five Precepts labyrinth walked by feeling one's way in the dark and a pair of bronze carp at the entrance to the main temple building which pilgrims traditionally rub prior to ending their abstention from luxuries like meat, fish, and alcohol. The one kilometer long road leading up the shrine has been planted with alternating cherry and maple trees, and in spring visitors can walk through a veritable tunnel of cherry blossoms.
