The club also offers horseback archery using real bows and arrows. The club rents the appropriate archery wear and equipment and instruction is provided personally by the club president.     At this family park you can ride the Noma pony, Japan's smallest native horse. The Noma ponies, designated cultural properties of Imabari, can be ridden by children under 30 kilogram in weight from 3 years-old to 6th grade elementary students (helmet and padded vest must be worn). You can also pet rabbits and guinea pigs in the small animal petting zoo area. In the Makiba Hall in the center of the park you can use computers in the Noma Pony Knowledge Classroom to learn about Noma ponies making this a common field trip location.

This is the only river in Japan where salmon fishing is allowed, and that is only for the purpose of surveying salmon resources,, and visitors can enjoy fishing for salmon in the great outdoors of Shiretoko, an area registered as a World Heritage Site. Fishing here requires an advance application. Visitors can fish for chum salmon and pink salmon using lure fishing, fly fishing, or bait fishing; in principle, all fish caught must be released.

Several endurance rides, events in which riders on horseback compete to set the best time covering a long distance, are held in Shikaoi Town each year.     A theme park where you can learn about the traditional crafts of Hitoyoshi and Kuma, an area selected for inclusion in the Japan Heritage list. The park consists of nine facilities, including a ceramics arts hall, smithing hall, glass hall, and teahouse, and visitors can make a variety of crafts by hand under the guidance of skilled artisans. There's also an observatory with a sweeping view of the Kyushu Mountains, a campground, and a park perfect for small children, making this a great destination for the whole family and for a variety of purposes. The local specialty products market sells traditional kijiuma wheeled bird toys, hanatebako boxes painted with camellias, and a wide variety of other gifts and souvenirs from Hitoyoshi and Kuma.

    Whether it's your first time on a horse or you're an expert, this riding club is open to riders of all levels. They also have a cafe restaurant and a cottage to help you enjoy your riding experience to the maximum. For beginners they recommend a plan where staff leads the horse by a tether. Children two to five years old can ride with their parents, and they provide help mounting and dismounting. Once you get used to it, you can set out on their trekking course over mountain trails and roads. Practice with the reins inside the riding area, and then a guide will accompany you for worry-free horseback riding while enjoying the view.

    We were hoping for an interesting farmstay experience, but all they give you is a small room and there is nothing to interact with on the ranch except the ponies (which we were told to move away...

    A pottery experience class in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, which is famous for Tokoname ware. It's in Ceramall, a ceramics shopping mall near the southern end of Tokoname Park. Even elementary school students can easily enjoy making pottery there with their potter's wheel. Being in a mall, it's nice to stop by after sightseeing or other errands. Evening sessions are available between 18:00 and 20:00 with a reservation, which is helpful if that's the only time you have for sightseeing. There is also a coffee shop on-site. They serve tea, coffee, and sweets like anmitsu (syrup-covered bean jam and fruit) in original ceramic vessels.
