    Tokyo Koutou-ku Tomioka 1-10-8
This Japanese-style sweets cafe is located on Eitai-dori Avenue near Monzen-Nakacho Station in Tomioka, Koto Ward. The cafe offers Japanese sweets such as mitsumame boiled beans with agar, fruit, and syrup; and from October to May, a set which includes awa zenzai sweet azuki bean soup with millet, fukagawa-meshi rice cooked with clams, and kenchin-jiru vegetable soup. The cafe's awa zenzai is made with millet, a local specialty product from western Okayama, steamed in a wicker basket for close to half a day before mixing it with warm koshian smooth red bean paste. The granulated, sticky texture of the millet and the subtle sweetness of the dessert engenders a moment of soothing calm. The cafe's Ujikintoki shaved ice with azuki beans and other shaved ices made with natural spring water are also popular throughout the year.

Gifu Gifu-shi Inabadori 1-8 Gifu Zenkoji
This shop sells thin crusted taiyaki, fish-shaped pancakes filled with bean jam. The shop is on the approach to Inaba Shrine, one of Gifu's top power spots. Carefully baked one-by-one, they're nice and crispy and the bean jam is just sweet enough. They also have limited availability items like taiyaki stuffed with Hida apple and sweet potato, and in summer they serve shaved ice smothered in fruit. When ordering several items to take away, we recommend placing your order, visiting Inaba Shrine or Gifu Zenkoji Temple, and then picking them up on your way home. It is not uncommon to see people walking away with packs of ten.

This confectionery is located about 100 meters from the Toson Memorial Museum. It is a specialty store that serves the local Kiso dish Goheimochi, which is made by crushing rice, wrapping it around a skewer, applying sauce to it, and cooking it. For example, there are waraji, dango, rice balls, and kiritanpo shaped Goheimochi, but at this store only waraji and dango shaped Goheimochi is offered. The sauce is made with ingredients such as sesame, walnut, or peanuts, which makes the Goheimochi irresistible when served fresh. In addition, it has many different souvenirs including jizake manju, karasumi (salted and dried mullet roe) and yokan.

Tsuen should be the oldest tea house in Uji at the same location all along. Visitors would try to have matcha there after long walks along Uji River. Nice to view sunset at the tea house as well.

    Nagano Komoro-shi Tei 314
A three-minute walk from Komoro Station. This soba noodle restaurant is located close to the inner citadel in the center of Komoro Castle Park. The standard cold zaru soba noodles, which reflect the innate flavors of the ingredients used to make them, are particularly recommended. The large sized soba noodles are enough to feed two people. Weather hot or cold, the restaurants noodles come with edible wild plants, mushrooms, deep fried tofu, and grated yam; the restaurant's Daimyo Soba comes topped with all of these plus an egg. Other toppings include tempura and eggs. The summertime only perilla and plum soba noodles have Japanese ginger in them, giving them a refreshing flavor. During the cherry bossom viewing season, customers can enjoy a banquet with an advance reservation. Note that the restaurant closes when its supply of noodles for the day runs out.

The store, which faces Otaru's classic walking course, Sakaimachi Street, sells ice cream, soft cream and other sweets. The store's popular soft cream features a smooth texture and rich milky flavor. Many people stop by the store to buy souvenirs, since the store also sells cheesecake made with plenty of Camembert cheese, fragrant vanilla Baumkuchen and other sweets.

We bought a lot of things to bring home here. They offer Royce chocolate, calbee chips and many other local snacks. They also have different hand made locally souvenirs.
