This is a restaurant on Shodo Island's main street, the Shodo Island Olive-dori shopping arcade. Located across from the Shodo government offices, it primarily serves cuisine using the local fresh catch of the day. Their menu offers not only combination set meals, but full course dinners or al a cart items, accommodating large parties to a woman visiting alone. Naturally, in addition to the Seto Inland Sea bounties, the Sanuki-gyu beef or Olive Beef raised in this paradise of sun and breezes, one can also enjoy the microbrew sake produced in these environs. Almost a half a century since its founding, this restaurant is a beloved restaurant to the locals.

    Miyazaki Saito Onozaki 1-8
This eel restaurant was established in 1848 during the rule of Tokugawa Ieyoshi. The restaurant serves choice, domestic eel which is plump and loaded with fat. All of the restaurant's eel cuisine is prepared with unsparing time and effort. Its eel is butchered on-site and broiled to order, and customers rave about the chewy, crispy, smoky eel. The restaurant's exquisite eel is also slathered in a secret recipe sweet and salty sauce, added onto since the establishment first opened its doors, which further enhances the flavor; the moment you pop a bite into your mouth, you'll experience an explosion of perfect chewiness and juiciness. The shirayaki-style sumiso-ae eel, which is served with a full-bodied, sour, and light sumiso (vinegar and miso sauce), is also popular.

    Miyazaki Nichinan-shi Agata-higashi 10-8-14
This eel restaurant is located a five-minute drive from Nichinan Station. Here customers can savor choice dishes maid exclusively with eel from Miyazaki Prefecture and Kagoshima Prefecture in a genuine Japanese atmosphere. The restaurant's herb eel, which has been featured in the media, is rich in high quality fat yet does not have the distinctive smell of river fish. Its excellent and mild flavor is so delicious, even people who don't like eel will find it tasty. The restaurant's tuna rice bowls, made with tuna from the local Aburatsu Port; and its broiled bonito rice boxes, a local Nichinan favorite; are also well-reviewed.

    Tokyo Ome-shi Honcho 153
This Japanese restaurant is located a five-minute walk from Ome Station. Housed in an atmospheric building constructed at the end of the 19th century, here you can enjoy vaunted eel cuisine. The restaurant's thick-cut eel filets are so tender, they can be pulled apart with a flick of your chopsticks, and the fatty meat goes perfectly with a traditional tare sauce. The restaurant also serves tempura made with seasonal vegetables from the local west Tama area, as well as a sashimi set meal which comes with huge pieces of fish. It is said that novelists Eiji Yoshikawa and Shotaro Ikenami also frequently stopped by here, and the restaurant's old-fashioned building, seemingly existing outside of time, has been designated a Historic Structure by the Tokyo metropolitan government, and an Important Scenic Resource by the city government.

Tokyo Chuo-ku Ginza 4-2-15 Tsukamoto Soyama Building B1
A restaurant specializing in eel in the Tsukamoto Sozan Building directly accessible from Ginza Station. The long-standing store was founded during the Kansei era when Tokugawa Ienari was in power. They serve a combination of domestically harvested wild and farmed eel in a shop with a distinctive appearance. The eel is laboriously and painstakingly prepared by skilled chefs to enhance the wonderful flavor. Wild eel typically is on the menu from late April to late November. In addition to classics like unagi on rice and kabayaki (eel dipped in a soy-based sauce and broiled), the popular Mabushi Gozen Japanese style meal set comes with a premium soup.

Located in the Ekimachi West shopping mall connected directly to Hamamatsu Station, the shop sells choice eel prepared kabayaki style grilled with sauce, tsukudani style boiled in soy sauce, and sansho-ni style boiled with soy sauce and Japanese pepper. The shop prepares its fresh, lively eel in the morning, and its slow-broiled eel kabayaki is shipped via refrigerated truck the same day without the use of vacuum packs or freezing. Shizuoka Hamamatsu-shi Hamana-ku Mikkabicho Tsuzuki 1313-665
A shop directly managed by Katsumi, a shop specializing in eel with multiple shops across the prefecture. They offer a variety of products from carefully selected eel to Hamamatsu souvenirs. They make sure to only use larger-sized, hand-picked eels in their products. They use well water drawn from 100-meters beneath in the deep mountains to completely wash away the characteristic muddy smell associated with eel. As it's not steamed you can enjoy the rich authentic full taste of eel. Across the street you'll find the Mikkabi Interchange location of Katsumi Eel.
