Tochigi Prefecture’s Otawara City is home to the prefecture’s only aquarium. In tanks replicating the ecology of the Nakagawa River, you can see creatures that inhabit a range of environments from the source to the river’s lower reaches. The huge tube-type tunnel aquarium featuring fish from the Amazon River like the enormous arapaima and piranha is a must see. There are many interactive areas as well, including touching tanks where visitors can encounter crayfish and starfish directly.

A safari park-style zoo located in Mine City, Yamaguchi Prefecture where visitors can view wild animals from a vehicle in settings close to their natural environment. In the Safari Zone, visitors can view African elephants, huge American black bears, lions, tigers, and more, either from their own car or a reservable bus tour which includes a chance to feed some of the animals. The park’s petting zoo, where visitors can play with and feed cute animals such as kangaroos and capybaras, is also quite popular. The zoo also has rare live white tiger and white lion exhibits. Finally, the park has a restaurant and an amusement park area with a giant Ferris wheel and roller coasters, ensuring families can enjoy an entire, fun-filled day here.

I was visiting the area with my mom and since she loves animals, we went there. It is easy to find using Google maps or the GPS. As you exit the road, remain on the left side, passing the parking...

Located in the Tokusan Town of Nomi City, Ishikawa Zoo occupies a 23-hectare site which makes effective use of the natural topography to enable the animals to live in an environment that resembles their natural environment as closely as possible. There is also a Japanese Crested Ibis Breeding Center within the Zoo, which is implementing a breeding program for this bird species. The Center itself is not open to the public, but visitors can view a live video food of the Ibises in the Animal Learning Center. Ishikawa Zoo also holds a variety of special events, including the Spring and Autumn Fureai Matsuri (friendship festivals) and Night Zoo activities on summer evenings, etc.

Meh. A very mixed bag--love the animals, hate the zoo. It is very clean and perhaps nice for the humans. They are the worst--not all of them, but enough of them are the most horrid, disgusting...

The zoo presents around 60 species of animals such as lions and Amur leopard cats; there's also a penguin exhibit which boasts one of the largest overhead aquariums in Japan. The zoo also offers a full array of programs, including guided tours and animal feeding sessions, as well as rides on Taishu horses, a rare breed of horse of which only around 50 live in all of Japan. The zoo's greenhouse garden and grounds have been planted with some 1,200 species of plants; the 3,000-square-meter rose garden, in particular, is a must see in the spring and fall when its beautiful roses bloom in profusion.

If you present proof that you live in the city of Sasebo, you can get in for cheaper. Good penguin exhibit, where you walk under the glass-bottom pool and look up to see them swimming above you...

The Kinkazan Squirrel Village preserves the nature around it and is blessed with a sunny, green environment. It was the first squirrel village in Japan at its founding in 1965. You can feed the squirrels by entering the cage, putting on leather gloves and giving food to the tame squirrels. Right next to Kinkazan Ropeway’s Sancho Station.

Squirrels are forest dwellers.xa0So its certainly NOT OK to keep these wild animals in a small gated area, to be continually handled and touched by humans, pure for money. A DISGRACE
