  • Hojo Beach

    This beach has the longest coastline in Tateyama City. Because it has good access located close to Tateyama Station and is shallow with quiet waves, it is popular mainly with families. Known as a popular spot for its scenery, it was chosen as one of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's 100 best views of Mt. Fuji in the Kanto region. It also holds a firework display and a flamenco festival, and it bustles with visitors all year.

    A stretch of coast extending along National Route 213 in Usuno, Bungotakada City. Facing the Suo Sea off of the Kunisaki Peninsula, in summer visitors can also enjoy swimming here. Famous for its sunset, the coast has been selected for inclusion in a list of Japan’s 100 best sunset destinations. Particularly during low tide, a striping of tidal flats and the sunset reflecting off the ocean and multiple pools of water create a particularly beautiful view.

    This 1.5-kilometer north-south arc of sandy beaches is a bathing resort just a short five-minute walk from Ajigaura Station. One of the most popular beaches in Ibaraki, it is packed with beach-goers every summer, and features complete facilities, with a parking lot, restrooms, and beach houses. The vicinity includes Hitachi Seaside Park, a big shopping mall, hotels, day spas, and many seafood restaurants.

    This beach area is operated by the Kakudahama Tourism Bureau and is in Nishikan Ward, Niigata City. Gentle waves and a large shallow beach make this a nice safe place for kids and parents and it's the perfect place to enjoy the abundance of natural scenery to your heart's content. Near the beach are campgrounds that don't require reservations as well as BBQ areas that are great for those on a day-trip who aren't spending the night. Tourist sight-seeing spots include the Kakudahama Cape Lighthouse and the cave were Yoshitsune hid while making his escape. There is also a well-known viewpoint where you can watch the setting sun sink into Sado Island. Various seasonal events are held including floating sumo wrestling tournaments, dances, and nagashi-somen (noodles served down a water chute).
  • Futtsu Beach

    The largest beach in the city, it is located in the southern area of Cape Futtsu and is characterized by its highly transparent and calm, shallow waters. The entire cape makes up Prefectural Futtsu Park, and you can enjoy leisure activities such as clamming and camping besides swimming, making it a place visited by many tourists.

    This beach is in Miura City, and is one beach comprised of Nagahama and Wadahama beaches. It is famous for its clear water, and the setting of the pine grove by the beach against the blue sky is unique to this location. One can enjoy the tide pools in the nearby rock outcropping, and many swimmers enjoy the sea here.

In summer, food and beverage stands operate on the beach, so visitors can also enjoy Hamayaki (fresh seafood, roasted on the beach), and more.
  • Haraoka Beach

    This beach is popular for being shallow and its quiet, beautiful sand, making it a place bustling with many beachgoers in the summer. Besides views of Cape Taibu-misaki on the left side of the beach, you can see the Haraoka Pier from the center of the beach. In addition, it is also known as a place where you can see the Diamond Fuji phenomenon with the evening sun sets into the summit of Mt. Fuji twice a year in May and early August.

    Ginowan Tropical Beach is an artificial beach in Ginowan City. The white sand and blue sea enable visitors to enjoy a truly “Okinawan” atmosphere. A comprehensive range of water sports activities are on offer.
  • Takenohama Beach Resort

The shallow waters of the beach make it an excellent place for children to play. Visitors can also enjoy a host of other leisure activities in safety such as canoeing, diving, and water pressure-powered jet packs. The connected dog beach, where owners can go canoeing with their four-legged best friend, is also popular.

Clubhouses nearby offer barbecuing and local bed and breakfasts offer fresh seafood caught in the Genkai Sea. Keya no Oto, a designated National Natural Monument, is also located in the area.

They hold various events like a summer festival and a fireworks display in season. Visitors enjoy water sports like surfing and bodyboarding throughout the year.   • Isonoura Beach

    This beach is just outside of Isonoura Station on the Nankai Electric Railway Kada Line. Its proximity to Osaka and the ability to surf year-round makes it popular with surfers of all levels. During the summer season it's split into sea bathing and surfing areas. Since the sea is shallow and there's no danger of colliding with surfers, kids can play in the water worry-free. With its beach festival and many other events, this place sees a lot of visitors.

    The beach is about 10 minutes by car from Kozumi Station and about 55 minutes from the Hidaka-Kannabe Kogen IC, and is located northwest along the coastal road near the footprint fossils and stream trace fossils from the Kozumi Onsen ryokan area. The beach is also popular with children because of its shallow waters and the spectacular view of Tajima Matsushima offshore.

    This beach is located 10 minutes south by car from Shimoda Station, Shizuoka Prefecture—it has a neat environment and is a popular beach for surfers and groups. Together with the adjacent mineral beach, the pure white sandy beach continues on for 770 meters. There are many holiday homes in the vicinity and there are also many foreign visitors. As of course there are beach huts, and the area is also dotted with stylish cafes and restaurants, it has an atmosphere similar to a beach abroad. Every September, the “Big Shower” festival is held which is the prefecture’s largest marine bath festival.
  • Takahama Beach

    Located close to Takahama-Kaisuiyokujo-mae bus stop. This beach is located a short distance south along National Route 384 traveling from the Gyoran Kannon Observation Deck. This white sand beach is known nationwide and is considered the most beautiful in Japan. With no buildings nearby, visitors can enjoy the beautiful, vivid contrast created by the green of the surrounding mountains and the blue of the East China Sea; Gunkanjima (Hashima Island) is also visible from here. The highly renowned beach has been selected for inclusion in a new list of the 100 New Japan Travel Destinations, the Japan's 100 Best Beaches list, a list of Japan's 100 Best Roads, and a list of the 88 Best Swimming Beaches in Japan. During swimming season, the beach bustles with visitors. The waves here are relatively mild, making this a great destination for families with children as well.
