    You’ll find this summer-only botanical garden on the peak of Mt. Higashidate, which is accessible via gondola from Hoppo Hot Spring or the summer lift from Takaamagahara. You’ll find 500 types of Shiga Kogen alpine plants on the site, part of which was used for the giant slalom course for the Nagano Olympics. The groups of Nikkokisuge plants that bloom in early summer are especially famous. There’s also an observation platform in front of the gondola station at the peak from which you can view the Northern Alps (Hida Mountains) and more.

    Kurohime Highlands Cosmos Garden began 40 years ago with the planting of cosmos plants in the alluvial fan in the skirts of Mt. Kurohime, and it is now adored as a place where you can behold “a million cosmos plants at a glance.” There’s also a dahlia garden and other seasonal blossoms, creating gorgeous scenery year-round. You can try your hand at pressed flower craft and flower basket weaving, and there’s also Strider Enjoy Park and other facilities. Events are regularly held as well, so you’ll definitely want to drop by. It’s about six minutes from Shinano Interchange on the Joshin-Etsu Expressway.

    A French garden located in Kawazu Town, Kamo County, Shizuoka Prefecture which was created as a sister garden to the Bagatelle Park in Paris, France. Past the avenue of trees at the entrance to the park, visitors will find the park’s French Plaza, an area filled with a fountain and small villas modeled after the Palace of Versailles. The park is planted with 1,100 varieties and 6,000 individual rose plants and the bilaterally symmetrical park stretching into the distance looks like something out of an oil painting. There is also a café in the shop which serves popular rose soft serve ice cream and a shop selling rose-themed goods.

    Located on about 6,611 m2 of spacious grounds, this herb garden on cultivates over 250 types of herbs and is the only such diverse one on the Izu Peninsula. Not only are there familiar varieties such as lavender and rosemary, one can encounter varieties of herbs that are unusual in Japan. They also hold workshops to make things such as aroma incense and herb soup by hand. Inside the garden is a tea room where guests can enjoy an original blend of herb teas that also doubles as a shop which sells herb merchandise. The closest station is Izu-Atagawa Station.

    熱川というと、バナナワニ園くらいしか観光施設を思いつかなかったのですが、ネットで調べた結果、こちら熱川ハーブテラスという施設を見つけました。メインはハーブ園になりますが、関係のお土産もいろいろ売っています。ハーブ系のお店だと、これまでは熱海のアカオハーブ&ローズガーデンにいっていたのですが、一つ選択肢が増えました。

The garden is planted with some 300 varieties of plants which appear in the poems of the ancient Man'yoshu poetry anthology; the wisteria blossoms which appear from late April to late May are particularly stunning. You can enjoy viewing the elegant, light purple blossoms at eye-height.

    The 10th lord of the Kishu domain, Tokugawa Harutomi, constructed this Daimyo garden located in Nishihama, Wakayama Prefecture. It’s a circuit-style garden, rare in Japan, with a pond that drew in water from the ocean.     Morino -Kyuyakuen Garden, located on the hill behind the longstanding “Morino Yoshino-kuzu Honpo” in Uda City, Nara Prefecture, opened in the Muromachi period. It is currently the oldest private herb garden in Japan. It was opened by 11th-generation Tosuke Morino in the Kyoho period and has been maintained for nearly 300 years. Uda has been known as a region famous for herbs for a long time, and there are approximately 250 types of herbs cultivated here as naturally as possible. The seasonal blossoms are gorgeous as well, delighting visitors year-round.

In the roughly 10,000 square meter site are planted 800,000 irises of 450 different species. The best time to visit is the two weeks after about June 10. The 55 species of hydrangea are also well worth seeing and the best time to see them is around one month after June 10.

With a restaurant, coffee shop, and shops, visitors can enjoy a full relaxing day here. The bus to Takidani Hanashobu Garden from Sanbonmatsu Station on the Kintetsu Osaka Line takes about five minutes.

    入場料は850円でした。一万坪の園内には600種100万株の勝負が植えられていますが、その他のお花類も充実しています。来訪時はしょうぶのシーズンが終わりかけであった為、あじさいの印象の方が残っています。

    Higashizawa Rose Park is a botanical garden located on the banks of the Osawa Reservoir in Murayama City. The Park has over 20,000 rose plants, belonging to around 750 different rose varieties from all over the world. Visitors can view special varieties such as the “Murayama” rose that was cultivated locally in Murayama City, and the rare “Violet” rose. The roses are at the best between June and September; a special “Rose Festival” is held every year during this period.
