    Located in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, this botanical garden is a part of the National Museum of Nature and Science, fully utilizing its position amid the rich nature at the southern base of Mt. Tsukuba, 7,000 species of plants—tropical and temperate—from Japan and around the world are cultivated here. General visitors can see roughly 3,000 of them. The garden is divided into nine sections, like evergreens, shrubs, aquatic plants, etc., and features three greenhouses recreating environments like the savannah and the tropical rainforest. You can see many rare foreign plants here.

    It is a gem of a place. Located near to Tsukuba University,bit is quiet and serene. If you plan to eat/picnic here, you need to bring your own food.

    At Suigo Sawara Aquatic Botanical Garden you can experience the old-fashioned ambience of a Japanese riverside district. It is located in Suigo-Tsukuba Quasi-National Park.     This arboretum sits on an extensive area which covers 142.6 hectares in total, and is located on Mt. Rokko in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture. They raise and exhibit various plants at the arboretum, focusing on a total of roughly 1,200 species of Japanese and foreign woody plant, and the areas are divided up based on their place of origin such as Asia, Europe and North America. It is famous for its seasonal flowers such as it having 25 varieties and 350 species including 50,000 hydrangea plants, roughly 4,000 rhododendron, azalea and cherry trees.     This botanical garden is located in the hilly area of Mt. Handa in Okayama City. Characterized by the 3,200 kinds of 150,000 plants (plum trees, cherry trees, Luoyang peonies, azaleas, roses, etc.) planned to bloom throughout the year in the 110,000 square meter garden, it was opened to see plants, for recreation and as a place of rest. Famous particularly as a cherry blossom viewing spot, approximately 800 Yoshino cherry blossoms are in full bloom from late March to early April, and you can enjoy flower viewing together with trees that are over 100 years old. In addition, it is known for the Ipponmatsu Kofun burial mound near the top of the garden that is a valuable cultural property.

    とっても広いと思って行くと「そうでもないかな?」と思うかたもいると思いますが、結構広いです。お花畑の間、間に道があって、下から上から眺めながら散策することが出来ます。一時的に雨が降りましたが、雨宿りする場所も有りますし、傘も借りられます。散策路が多少ぬかるんだりするので、雨の日は靴汚れに注意です。ケイトウの見頃時期にはお薦めの場所だと思います。

Parrot and rat shows are held on the garden’s spacious grounds, but be sure not to miss the flamingo shows resembling something out of a south seas resort. The garden also holds a variety of special events during Golden Week and other long holidays. People of all ages are sure to enjoy meeting the animals which are allowed to roam grounds closely resembling their natural habitat.
