    This safari park is located in Takakuhei, Nasu Town. In addition to observing nearly 70 animal species in the ecological exhibits, including lions, giraffes, rhinoceroses, and bison, visitors can also enjoy feeding the herbivorous animals. Also, every Saturday from April until the end of October (additional dates during three-day weekends, Golden Week, and summer break), night safaris are held in which visitors can observe the habits of nocturnal animals. It’s also possible to only visit the safari restaurant, where you can enjoy barbecued dishes, curry, rice bowls, noodles, and more.

Now, due to reconstruction work following the Kumamoto earthquake, the flower bed around the botanical garden, animal petting area, part of animal museum exhibition area (elephants, giraffes) and part of the amusement park have been opened free to the public. It is around a 10-minute walk from the Kumamoto tram’s Doshokubutsuen Irigiuchi Station.
