- Tokyo Adachi-ku Hokima 2-17-1
- This is Adachi's only aquarium and zoo where you can nurture love through interacting with living things and learn about the preciousness of life. It is a biological garden in a residential area a 20-minute walk from Takenotsuka Station. There are about 300 species of living things such as insects, fishes, amphibians and birds that are raised there. It consists of five sections with the theme of “interactions, life and symbiosis.” You can interact with guinea pigs and rabbits and also feed sheep every day, so it is crowded with many families during long holidays and weekends. The popular event where creatures recommended by staff for that season are introduces by keepers is held on the first Saturday of each month, and same-day registration is accepted.

I'll start by saying, we went here with one of the locals who spoke to the staff for us and explained everything so my review may be slightly biased because of that! The best part was the room full...

- Nagano Nagano-shi Uematsu 2-1-19
- A free zoo located in Joyama Park, a popular cherry blossom viewing destination in Spring. Open every day excluding the end of the year and regularly scheduled closing days, the zoo is popular because visitors can take in the animal exhibits even in winter, as well as because of its variety of rides and attractions of all sizes. A great place to enjoy a relaxing stroll, here visitors can see animals such as Japanese macaques, great white pelicans, and Yakushima sika deer. There's also a petting zoo where visitors can pet rabbits, guinea pigs, and miniature horses.
-
this is a tiny zoo next to the Joyama Park which is worth a trip if you have young kids - perhaps 8 and under. it's tiny - you can do this in under one hour. the reviews here are rather spot on...

- Hokkaido Noboribetsushi Noboribetsuonsenchou 224
- The Hokkaido Brown Bear was traditionally worshipped by the Ainu people as Kim-un Kamuy, the “Spirit who Dwells in the Mountains.” The Noboribetsu Bear Park has succeeded in breeding Hokkaido Brown Bears, and currently has around 100 bears. The Park also features an observation platform with views over Lake Kuttara, and Yuttara Village where visitors can experience Ainu culture. The Donan Bus service from JR Noboribetsu Station takes around 20 minutes to reach the Park. By car, the Park is approximately 10 minutes’ drive from the Noboribetsu Interchange on the Hokkaido Expressway.

It was interesting to see the bears up close. I never realized just how huge the bears in Hokkaido are until I visited this place. But I feel like their enclosures could be improved a lot.

- Tokiwa Zoo
- Leisure / Hobbies
- Yamaguchi Pref. Ubeshi Norisada 3-4-1
- This zoo is located inside the Tokiwa Park in Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and it became famous for the white pelican “Katta-kun,” who would play with the children at the kindergarten nearby. A large-scale renovation took place in 2012, and all the exhibits were redone to imitate the animals’ natural habitats. The park is divided into four zones: Asia, Latin America, Africa, and Yamaguchi Ube. It has the largest number of lar gibbons of any zoo in Japan, and visitors can observe many other flourishing species as well.
